  The Anopheles of the afro-tropical region

Description: "This software is made of two parts: a species identification tool, richly illustrated, and a comprehensive data bank on Anopheles.  The identification is conducted by the programme that proposes more than 500 original illustrations; it comprises a morphological as well as an ecological approach.  The possibility of a meticulous checking of the identification, at any time, is given to the user.  The data bank gives a synthetic and up-to-date information dealing with the morphology, ecology, transmitted diseases epidemiology, and control of these flies, fearsome vectors of malaria.  This software aims at medical entomologists, parasitologists, teachers and students, and at manager of human health and/or animal health and breeding."  In French, Portuguese, and English on one CD.

  The mosquitoes of Mediterranean Africa

Description: "This application  program usable in two languages (English and French) is made of two parts: an identification tool for the larvae and adults of the 73 species of Culicidae recorded from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt, plus a data base on mosquitoes of this area.  The identification, guided by the computer, integrates a morphological and an ecological approach.  The program offers more than five hundred original illustrations and allows an accurate checking of the resulting identification.  Moreover, the program gives a synthetic and updated information on morphology, biology, geographical distribution, and medical and/or veterinary importance of these fearsome vectors of parasitic diseases.  This program, of easy use, concerns medical entomologists, teachers and students, as well as all people working public health, and animal breeding departments who are in charge of surveillance and control of mosquitoes."  In French and English on one CD.
